Silupa, Tiberame not sacked as NA officials

LUFA MP Yawa Silupa and John Tiberame are not sacked as National Alliance party officials from the Eastern Highlands provincial branch.

Deputy Parliamentary Leader-Highlands and Minister for Works, Transport and Civil Aviation Don Polye said in a statement that the former branch officials were replaced at a legitimate meeting, however, this did not happen for Mr Silupa and Mr Tiberame.

Mr Polye said the party constitution is very clear on this matter and on disciplinary matters, the national executive committee makes the decisions and not provincial.

He said the provincial executive makes recommendations to the national executive who then decides on the matter.

The deputy leaders also called on provincial executives to follow procedures on delicate matters with caution.

He made these comments following claims that the two men were sacked as party members.
