MEMBER for Mendi and acting Governor for Southern Highlands Province Pastor Isaac Joseph presented a cheque of K500,000 to PNG Power recently to begin rural electrification construction in his electorate.
The line extension project, about 40km, will begin from Mendi to Mogol Secondary School and onto Birop Village, and then from Map to Monihiu Station and Bella Village.
PNG Power CEO Tony Koiri said PPL was still committed to carrying out RE in SHP and assured the governor that the project would be completed in time.
Mr Koiri also appealed to the governor to assist the construction teams on the ground especially when dealing with landowner issues.
Governor Joseph assured Mr Koiri his people will cooperate with the PPL team to speed up the project.
He added that the electricity service would help develop his electorate and urged his people to change their mindset of demanding for compensation and instead accept positive changes in their lives.
